Lycoming Hope Chest Coordinator

Status: Part-Time (June–July 2026), increasing to 30+ hours/week with potential for Full-Time beginning August 1, 2026

Position Overview

The Lycoming Hope Chest Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring children and families impacted by foster care are met with dignity, care, and timely support. This position oversees The Lycoming Hope Chest's daily operations and builds strong relationships with volunteers, churches, and community partners. This is a highly relational and hands-on role that requires organization, initiative, and a deep commitment to Dwell’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, organization, and functionality of The Hope Chest and Care Package Room

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing donations, track inventory, and maintain an adequate stock of essential items

  • Respond to and fulfill Hope Chest requests within 24 hours, ensuring timely and compassionate service to families

  • Manage Hope Chest operations, including ordering supplies, coordinating deliveries, and maintaining a welcoming space

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers; track and report volunteer hours

  • Plan and lead volunteer engagement opportunities, including monthly orientations, monthly volunteer days, and service projects

  • Coordinate ongoing support appointments for families, ensuring materials and volunteers are prepared

  • Organize and execute special initiatives such as Back-to-School and Holiday Pop-Up Shops, Social Worker Appreciation, and Volunteer Appreciation

  • Build and maintain relationships with local churches and businesses, including coordinating collection drives, communication, and appreciation efforts

  • Schedule and participate in speaking opportunities at churches and community groups

  • Create and send regular communications, including weekly prayer emails and monthly updates

  • Coordinate and host an annual Trauma 101 training for children’s ministry leaders in coordination with the Executive Director

  • Engage with community partners and represent Dwell at local events

  • Track program data and maintain accurate records for reporting and evaluation

  • Support additional organizational projects and initiatives as needed

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent communication and relational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and take initiative

  • Experience working with volunteers and community engagement

  • Experience working with the child welfare system

  • Alignment with Dwell’s mission, values, and faith-based approach

  • Passion for serving children and families impacted by foster care

Work Schedule

  • Part-time (June–July 2026), transitioning to 30+ hours/week with potential for full-time beginning August 1, 2026

  • Primarily daytime hours, with occasional evenings and weekends for events and trainings
